I would like to run a socks5 proxy on a web server from a hosting provider. It is a Linux server, but I do not have shell access. I can run some simple terminal commands (cd, dir, pwd) with a simple php script that uses system() but I can not run ./configure, make, or make install.

Is there a way to run socks5 on this server? I tried using phproxy, but it doesn’t seem to work on anything but port 80. Is there an alternative socks, http or https proxy that I can use with programs like Firefox.

Note: I would prefer to have a dedicated server, rather than use tar

I have a question how i can change/add extra command on php.ini? My problem is is using a web hosting (Linux+Cpanel) where i can’t manipulate php.ini to do any configuration since that server is own by hosting provider/company?

I just want to add this:

php_value post_max_size 10M
php_value upload_max_filesize 10M
post_max_size = 12M
upload_max_filesize = 12M

So how i can do it?

i’m thinking on changing my hosting provider because the one I have really sucks; the web pages I have there often fail (data base service) and I’d like to be on a reliable one.
Is Godaddy a good hosting ? What about the speed they have ? Does anyone have a bad experience with them ? Is there any other hosting service you could recommend me ?

Hey guys I asked this question recently and got some good answers. I followed up by ringing a provider who said I could go either windows or linux depending on what i am going to use to script.
Basically whatever i choose to i am learning PHP (Both) and eventually ASP (Windows).

From reading endless comparisons i am confused. The hosting provider told me the price is the same regardless. the forums say windows server is expensive? and linux is free?

So when purchasing a host i use their server? so i dont have to download windows or linux???

I have more than 5 portal hosted on Shared Hosting, in all portal i am using asp access database connection. In every 5-15 days it seems problem for data connection (Internal Server Error 500)
My hosting provider is claiming that asp access can not handle mask user, is it, what should i do ?

I’ve been having some issues with Godaddy hosting, namely their virtual dedicated server hosting. I’m thinking of moving my website to another hosting provider, but maybe this time to full Dedicated Server. Any recommendations?

I like bluehost a lot but if i want to join them i will be billed on a yearly basis I want to be billed on a monthly basis, bluehost can do that but I will be billed 10 $ per month instead of 3.95 $ I want a monthly plan with the same price and the same service, I don’t need a website builder. And i need to be able to upgrade from shared hosting to dedicated to servers and cloud hosting, you see I can’t pay them about 300 $ a year (i have 3 sites) if i can find a hosting place that charges me 3.95 $ it would be better. And bluehost let you send 50 newsletters per h, if you know some place that let you send more newsletters per h it would be great

I already know about mailchimp aweber and those site and I don’t want them I know how to create a newsletter myself and many hosting site provide this feature for free

Don’t say anything about hosting24.com or 000webhost.com I’m currently using 000webhost.com which is the hosting provider for hosting24.com and it sucks if you don’t believe me, google it and see the reviews to make sure that I’m not lying.
