The name servers in Yahoo has been changed as Godaddy says.
However, I do also need to change the A record and CNAME record in yahoo. I cannot find what it should be pointing to. I have a shared hosting (Windows) with Godaddy. Should it be the IP – the domain control panel of Godaddy is showing?

good free hosting which supports joomla?

I’d like to install and try out the newer Joomla 1.5, but don’t have an "extra site to play with" in order to install and manage content with it. I’m into web design by choice, but I’d like to play with it to see how it works as a CMS.

Do you know of any free hosting sites (or cheap) where I can install and run Joomla on their linux server?

essentially, I’m not sure if the free hosting’s ad supported deal is compatible. so if you know if a cheap hosting place -ANYTHING BUT GODADDY- that i can seamlessly run joomla on, I’d appreciate it.

What is the best web hosting?

I am planning of having my own website, perhaps host multiple domains, my first choice is actually webhostingpad.com, but then, i read so many reviews about their scam, I get confused. I also checked on justhost and read negative feedback.

Godaddy and Hostgator are actually good, but then, these two are quite expensive.
Based on experience, which among so many webshostings out there, works best and offer competitive price and services?

help please

Thanks!

How do I get value from Network Solutions?

Recently I got a couple of domains from Network Solutions. A colleague in IT just raved about how they’re the best, they have the most services, they’re the Hertz/VISA/Nike/AmazoneBay of web services – how could I go wrong?

Well, I’m thinking I did go wrong. Though my friend touted the "free" website setup I could get at NS, I ended up paying annual for lowest-tier web hosting. That’s OK, but then I found out I had to use THEIR web design tool – and after a 30-day trial, THAT will also cost me. Further, their tool is worse than inflexible – it fails to function because it overrides or erases my setup.

What I’m thinking now is to transfer my domains (since I own them now) to another web service (GoDaddy or some other). I want to contact my credit card company and cancel the web hosting/design tool part of my purchase with NS.

Has anyone dealt with managing their own domains and websites? Any *good* advice (as opposed to my colleague’s) as to what my options are now?

I’m thinking about starting my own website. I already know about Dreamhost, Servage and Godaddy…but does anyone know any other good web hosting services?

Thanks.

i am using godaddy for hosting linux and i am a newbie at PHP Software or programing so i am trying to figure what is best to use on that platform and maybe wich are best on my laptop also because i wanna make php scripts and if you can let me know if zend and what else i could use for practice on desktop thanks

Example: mysite.com/page.html to mysite.com/page
Hosting is through Godaddy if that matters.

Help with GoDaddy operating system on a Mac?

I am trying to create website for my illustration portfolio on GoDaddy. Before I can buy a hosting plan I need to pick an operating system. I primarily work on my macbook but the only two operating system choices are Linux and Windows. Which one should I pick? I am using Dreamweaver to create my site.
Thanks a lot for the help. So a Windows based website would support a Dreamweaver created one better than a linux based one?

Hosting reviews? GoDaddy, Netfirms, Yahoo, etc…?

I’ve been unable to find a reliable website with credible hosting reviews. Here’s what I’m looking for:

1- multiple domains
2- low monthly prices (under 10 USD per month)
3- no annual commitments
4- responsive customer service
5- no push marketing strategy (I currently use GoDaddy, and they push like nothing I’ve ever seen before)
6- ease-of-use (Yahoo’s interface is extremely user-friendly)
7- 200gb of storage and 2000 gb of bandwidth (not asking a lot here)

So, what’s the deal here? HostGator seems like the obvious choice, but I think they use deceptive marketing practices, including the use of sister sites, such as Blue Host and Host Monster. Yahoo won’t allow me to use multiple domains with one hosting account. GoDaddy is reasonably priced, but the user-panel is extremely unfriendly and they use aggressive marketing strategies. Netfirms bills quarterly maintenance fees without annual contracts.

Once again… What’s the deal?
