I made a private server for a game called "jade dynasty" I have it on Redhat linux but its only a comand prompt that i use to host it from my house using VMware. I need to buy server hosting because there are hundreds of people on my server. Im only a kid and i dont really know about hosting and such from a dedicated server provider. How exactly do i do it because most ive seen use a control panel but i need to be able to upload my files to the dedicated server and start my server myself and such, has anyone ever done this themselfs? Its sort of similar to WoW or Perfect World. Help me please and thanks in advanced(=

I’ve been tasked with looking into virtualizing one of our clients. I am new to the game and have a question regarding authenticating users who will be connecting to a remote virtualized domain controller.
The site has a DSL line and sonicwall firewall with a vpn connection to our office. We plan on installing a vm server at our office to provide hosting of the virtual server. In order for DNS to work properly on the client site, is it as simple as adding the primary DNS pointing to our DNS server through the VPN link for authentication and adding their public DNS as the secondary for regualar internet functions?

I’m looking into making my own game review/news website and would like to know what free web hosting site would be the best to use to make a good looking site. I want an easy to use site such as an IGN looking site. If anyone has any idea I’d apprechiate it

I would like to know how this system works, i know that everything runs through your connection when you are the host, but when you are hosting would that cause you to lag more, when everyone is running through you? or what? basically im looking for some clarifications on what could cause lag in the game.

I’ve been curious about this for a while seeing how I would like to get into it as a side job sort of thing once I’m out of college but I’m completely stumped.
So the questions are basically.
-What kind of connection would you need to be able to keep multiple dedicated servers stable and lag free? (servers for web hosting and game hosting).
-How do you go about getting such a connection? Do only certain ISP’s offer it? Is it just a well above average connection? Or is it something you have to own a company just to get?
-How much would such a connection cost? Most dedicated servers cost you about 0-900 a month on a lot of host reseller sites so I’m sure the connection would cost quite a bit(And I know there is probably a higher profit margin so they can pay off the machine itself)
Any information is appreciated . And if it’s possible give information for many variables because I have no clue what I’d like to aim for ( host 10 websites or hosting 100+ if you know what I mean )

i host a game in battlenet, people join in, but sometimes, when i click on cancel the program freeze , at the background "sky" . i just need a suggestion on how to fix it
Pc specs. 512MB, 3.GHz Pentium 4 HT, Hard disc space 120Gb, it is more than enough to run warcraft, another lower spec pc can run it properly… I doubt it is a problem handling sort of connection stuff? when trying to disconnect peole when canceling hosting…. it freezes….
The patch works all ok and fine…. getting clueless.. might trying to uninstall the whole game and install again….

Was wondering coz i know ps3 you can run a seperate OS i’ve made a choice of goin for Helios/yellow dog. Usually with my pc for example if i were to run any game and make a server i have to do some port forwarding in order for people to connect to me and stuff coz i’m behind a router. But when i play warhawk on my ps3 i make a server dedicated or non dedicated i dont need any port forwarding or DMZ.
Was wondering if i install another OS on my PS3 and decide to run a server will it work the same? will i need to forward any ports for people to connect to me like when my pc hosts any kinda server or can it just do it on its own? And will my public IP address be the MacID or my normal ISP ip address?

I host a dedicated server, and I want to know if it is possible to pass off models and textures to people who join? They get the ‘downloading files’ and some things work,
but for example: the Pikmin addon works, but the Final Fantasy ragdolls are big red ERROR’s.
Also Starship troopers ragdolls/npc are big ERROR’s.
they both have CS Source which is the only game I have, so I dont know what the problem is.
How do I transfer the files through garrys mod?
Alright well since they cant download it directly, which files can go through? The Pikmin addon went through fine, but the others didnt. Is there a reason?

I’m trying to find a way to host a game online for other people to play, and I have heard I need a dedicated server to do so. I am not very familiar with how this works, so could someone please advise me on what to do? Thank you for the help!
