Can i switch domain names to another hosting plan. for example, if i bought a domain name from bluehost.com, can I switch it to go daddy.com hosting plan? or another dedicated server hosting plan.

I would like to run a socks5 proxy on a web server from a hosting provider. It is a Linux server, but I do not have shell access. I can run some simple terminal commands (cd, dir, pwd) with a simple php script that uses system() but I can not run ./configure, make, or make install.

Is there a way to run socks5 on this server? I tried using phproxy, but it doesn’t seem to work on anything but port 80. Is there an alternative socks, http or https proxy that I can use with programs like Firefox.

Note: I would prefer to have a dedicated server, rather than use tar

Hello, im not exactly trying too make "the next youtube" its more for personal reasons.

My current host doesnt allow streaming video (even though it says it clearly) for webhosting, incase your wondering its Hostgator. I asked them about it and even the dude at support didnt know it says it supports it… so he tells me too email support (since it was a chat session) and support tells me it just takes way too much bandwidth too allow webhosting have streaming video with some sort of video plugin FFMPEG .. so anyway they then tell me their dedicated server does.. but the prices are a bit high for me at this point and i wanna know if theirs a site that has a cheaper price.. if not then i have no choice but too use gators.. much thanks in advance

I am using two different hosting servers. One for the website which is shared one and another one is dedicated where all my images are hosted.
My shared hosting website pull the images from the dedicated server.
The problem I am facing is the too much usage of the dedicated server’s bandwidth.

The problem we are facing is that the bandwidth of our dedicated server is increasing rapidly.

Thus I want to know how the bandwidth is calculated. For example, if my shared server (website) is hosted on USA and dedicated server(Image) is hosted somewhere in UK.

In the above senario if the customer checks or views our website it would first go to our USA server (shared) then our shared server would contact our dedicated (image server).
In the above senario how the bandwidth would be calculated will the bandwidth calculation of our dedicated server inlcude the total bandwidth usage from the visitor to the shared website and bandwidth usage of shared website to the dedicated server.

Or

The bandwidth usage of the dedicated server would include only the bandwidth used to interact between the shared server and dedicated server.

I would very gratefull if some could give relevent answer to the above queries of mine ASAP…..

This weekend i managed to get my hands on some IBM servers that were running in the range of 50 to 80 virtual servers. I formatted them and installed Win server 2008 (legal) and VMWare. Just wanting to know what are some ways i can gain a return profit from these machines.

I was thinking something in the dedicated server hosting, web site hosting.

Any other suggestions will be appreciated.
