I want to open an online business that will allow customers to have accounts. Some managed dedicated hosting plans have features that others do not and I am a litte confused. One company mentioned something about bandwith overage but I was not sure on what it meant.

I’ve seen something like 0 less for self managed. Is this about what it is everywhere else?

Hi all!
we are developing a blog hosting system as a part of our PG.
we are finished with the UI and DBs design .
I would like to know which technology we should use for DB and server programming.
can we choose mysql and jsp? we have not worked with php or asp before and so we can’t use them in a few amonut of time we have.
the system must operate on both windows and linux.
please also give me your suggestions about applications needed to be installed for programming.
thanks

I have recently started a website and the web design company has offered to do the hosting but thought it seemed quite high for a shared server.
I have no previous experience with internet businesses or servers and have been quoted £50 per month including VAT, which is about 600 annually for an ecommerce site on a shared server.
Is that a fair price and if not how easy will it be to switch providers?

I prefer a Windows Operating System. Want to manage at least 10 websites.
