I have to find an FTP program that allows bandwidth throttling. Currently hosting FTP using Microsoft’s IIS 6.0, which only allows throttling of www sites, not ftp sites. Need a program (preferably free but not necessary), that allows FTP hosting but lets you set a maximum bandwidth usage.

Me and my team created a 3d game mmorpg like all other mmorpg it requires a great dedicated server maybe not in hardware but in internet speed to handle many players without lag.

By experience which are the best companies to get one? i ve been searching on google but i really need some experience talking here. I dont care about the money but if is worth the money better.

I installed WindowsXP on my VirtualBox using UBUNTU 10.04 as my Host… I have already shared some folders which I want to access from my XP. But, I can’t see any of the folders which I shared.

Can someone help me? I need specific instructions/step-by-step procedures on how to accomplish this.

I chat on about 5 websites at the same time. Recently i like using my laptop to chat but it freezes after 2 sites load. Most use a java based chat system witch seems to use a lot of resourses. First i guess im wondering what i need to improve on my computer to stop this. Is it Ram, Processor, Video card?

Anyway it runs ok with 2 sites now and my laptop is a dell, p3 1.2 mhz and 256 ram. It’s hard to compair laptops and desktops because my desktop will run all 5 sites and has about the same specs..

If i upgraded to 1 gb of ram would that likley solve my problem or do i need to get a new faster laptop.. BTW, basically the laptop runs 5 concurrent video streams but it just slows down and eventually crashes if i try to run 3 sites. I really think the java applet each site uses is sucking up all my ram but i’m not really sure.

I’m making an image hosting service similar to photobucket or tinypic. What features would you really like in a new website like this?

We work on some projects, scripts, which needs sometime dedicated server to host to run.

As dedicated servers are just an extra cost for us, as we do need this hosting for just testing purpose for 10 to 20 days for script. So i am thinking to run own webserver for this job from my home. Can anyone tell me what is needed for this type of task, and is it feasible… have you done this before, if so what have been your experiences?
