one that would have what the event is fundraising for. Where items are located, prices for the tickets for different raffles. is this necessary or just a waste of funds.. All additional expenses including this one would come from my personal pocket…..
It is to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

I’m currently on shared and would like to get more control over my host so that I can install various software and increase the functionality of my site. Faster db queries and whatnot with dedicated resources would be a nice plus!
My problem is I don’t have the traffic or resources to justify a dedicated box. I’m wondering if a VPS or virtualized host would be a good interim solution. This should definitely allow me to install my software, but I’m wondering if the performance would be any better with a relatively small virtual slice (256MB dedicated ram and a small chunk of the CPU reserved).

I have a server which can not communicate to the router on a segment. All i get when pinging the router is "Destination IP address unreachable". This is happening on now 2 servers. The only difference now is that we moved the servers from one location to another. They are on the correct VLAN. We have tested other PCs on the same cable line and have not issues.
I can ping the 127.0.0.1with a response
I can ping the static IP address on the NIC of the servers
I can not ping any other hosts on the same segment.
I have tested the cable by placing my laptop on the same line and can get to the router.
I have also tried switching out the NICs on the servers. Still get the same results.
We have cleared the MAC addresses from the switch.
Any other Ideas would greatly be appreciated. It’s almost seems like the TCP/IP stack is corrupt and I am unsure of how to fix this.

Well ok, i should rather ask, how to connect to mysql server without using sockets. This is how i connect at this time:
<?php
require_once(’DB.php’);
function connect_to_manish_db(){
global $__db;
$mode = DB_FETCHMODE_ASSOC;
$user = ‘root’;
$pass = ”;
$host = ‘localhost’;
$db_name = ‘whatevernameitis’;
$dsn = "mysql://$user:$pass@$host/$db_name";
$__db = DB::connect($dsn, true);
return $__db;
}
?>
I also tried this way :
function dbConnectionManish(){
global $___dbConn;
if(!$___dbConn){
$___dbConn = mysql_connect(’localhost’,'root’,”);
if(!$___dbConn){return false;}
$selectDB = mysql_select_db(’whateverdbnameis’);
if(!$selectDB){return false;}
}
return $___dbConn;
}

I was wondering what the advantages would be to hosting your own wordpress blog versus using the hosting provided by the website.

I am a designer by trade. I want to hire a hosting company that let’s me manage my design, seo, social networking, ecommerce, etc. any recommendations?
I think i need to re-phrase. I want to use a CMS that will allow me to upload my designs. It should also have a tool that helps me manage my SEO, Social Networking and Email Campaigns. And I don’t know how to write code, but I do know how to design.
