Hi everyone.
I’m currently running the site http://raginghippie.com
we offer web hosting along with some other services.
Can someone tell me how to start a web hosting service from home? A full-fledged tutorial would be nice.
I’ve done my homework and searched for tutorials and guides on this subject, but all I can find is how to host a website at home, not a web hosting company.
Any answers to this would be highly appreciated.

I have the following version of Linux web server rented from my hosting company:
Linux version 2.4.7-10 (bhcompile@stripples.devel.redhat.com) (gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-98)) #1 Thu Sep 6 16:46:36 EDT 2001
I’m looking to install a firewall software and an antivirus/antispam software on this server. Could you give me some suggestions? Free is better.
Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-98 is the Linux version. I have very limited experience with Linux and trying to learn as I go along. The hosting company requires me to buy the software (even if it is for the security of the site) and they will install it for me. I just wanted some suggestions on what firewall software is available which is considered to be the best and also works with the Linux version listed above.

My website is not huge, but I need something really fast and very local (ny-based site and audience). I would prefer a VPS or another server service that have control over, but don’t have to manage everything

I’m setting up a spare computer of mine to host dedicated game servers.
I have two computers, one has a better processor and the other has a better onboard graphics card.
What I’m wondering is whether or not graphics cards come into play when hosting a DEDICATED, not listen server.
Thanks in advance!

I am going to be using the e fiction free software to create the archive. I have been trying to find a good web hosting service, but all the ones I think will be good, get bad reviews or turn out to be a scams. Does any have a suggestion, or has been in the same boat as me and knows what to do?

Hey I want to host files using my current Internet connection. I’m just not how to go about doing it with my current ISP (which I am not willing to change).
I currently use comcast high speed internet and im supposed to have a Dynamic IP. I signed up for Dyna DNS but noticed that for some reason, my computers IP is static. I tried hosting some files on a windows machine, but was unable to access them on the internet, only on my LAN.
When I setup my webserver it should be running Ubuntu Linux but I want to know what software I need to install and what settings need to be changed in order to host an ASP.net site. Nothing too complicated, I’m fairly new to Linux.
