I have a website registered on a free web hosting, I want to make a Login and Logout system. But I don’t know how about it and I don’t know what kind of "Code" I’ll going to use. And does it gonna need a Database? Big Help Here!

Is it possible to host my own dedicated server?

By taking a PC and making it a dedicated server, using broadband internet?

I do have Frontpage extensions enabled on the server. The site has page banners, link bars and a discussion forum and only the discussion forum works on the live site. So it seems that the Frontpage extensions do work, but not for the link bar and the page banner. When I open the live site (remotely) in Frontpage, it says in the location where the link bar should be something like: "add page to navigation structure to show linkbar" whereas it works perfectly well offline (locally) and I copied the entire file structure over to the web server. Do I have to re-create the navigation structure remotely? Is that normal? My ISP is 1and1 and I have Linux hosting.

Looking for a temporary fix at the least. About 200 of us are onsite, we are a vendor at a large automotive company. We plug our laptops into the customers ethernet ports, and acquire a IP address. From here, no web access works unless we enter a proxy login and password. Not a problem, if your using the 4.5 or 5.0 version of our VPN software. Well, people around me are starting to automatically get the upgraded 6.0 version of our VPN software and its OVERLY helpful. What i mean is it tries to connect to our company’s website ie. www.company.com on port 80, and since it cannot make that connection, it doesnt allow the next part of the connection. This is ridiculous. So I even tried to edit the www.company.com address in the HOSTS file and pointed it to Localhost or 127.0.0.1 etc and then i get the error, Connection Actively Refused…well, makes sense because im not running a webserver on my laptop. The two companies are absolutely huge and despite calling multiple network/proxy/server teams, there isnt much they are saying I can do except downgrade to the old VPN…well, at the very least, couldnt I run some type of small program just to emulate the connection? The VPN software itself doesn’t have much for variables to change in its .INI files and what not. I wonder if taking a decompiler to the exe would produce some variables that maybe i could ADD to the short .INI file. Do you have any interesting thoughts? I’d love to hear them! At the very least, im looking for a short term solution until the 4week change control goes into effect allowing this program to pass through the customers proxy. Thanks, Chuck.
I appreciate the input but the VPN software is house brand, doubt there is anything you can research on it: RA2HP.exe, used by thousands of people no doubt, but not as many at a vendors site behind a proxy. After a few weeks im sure corporate will see the loss of this software being overly helpful (ensuring a www connection before a VPN connection) but as the question stated, im trying to find a workaround for the next 4 weeks :)

and what shall be configuration of server to handle this kind of traffic.

Hosting reviews? GoDaddy, Netfirms, Yahoo, etc…?

I’ve been unable to find a reliable website with credible hosting reviews. Here’s what I’m looking for:

1- multiple domains
2- low monthly prices (under 10 USD per month)
3- no annual commitments
4- responsive customer service
5- no push marketing strategy (I currently use GoDaddy, and they push like nothing I’ve ever seen before)
6- ease-of-use (Yahoo’s interface is extremely user-friendly)
7- 200gb of storage and 2000 gb of bandwidth (not asking a lot here)

So, what’s the deal here? HostGator seems like the obvious choice, but I think they use deceptive marketing practices, including the use of sister sites, such as Blue Host and Host Monster. Yahoo won’t allow me to use multiple domains with one hosting account. GoDaddy is reasonably priced, but the user-panel is extremely unfriendly and they use aggressive marketing strategies. Netfirms bills quarterly maintenance fees without annual contracts.

Once again… What’s the deal?

What is the best free Web Site Hosting Service?

I’m looking for the best or one of the best free web hosting services. One that is free of ads and I want to build my Site from Scratch. I know my share of HTML so I would like to start with a "blank peice of the internet." I would also like to have a small forum. I know it’s alot to ask but i’m sure there is one out there. Much Help is appreciated. Thanks.

Can it be done?
My Server: Linux
My PC: Win XP

Note: This is not against the ToS with my host.

I need to get rid of a system security program?

Well, there’s this system security program that is stopping all of the other programs on my computer from starting up i believe. It keeps alerting me with these obviously false errors but i cant seem to get rid of it. I tried spywarevoid.com manual uninstall, but the notepad doesn’t open up for the hosts file. Im not completely screwed…am I? Is there something Im doing wrong… something else I can do?
