I want to upgrade my shared hosting to dedicated hosting ? do i lose any thing of my hosted content , i mean if i upgraded my website shared hosting to dedicated what may happen to my website page .

Ok, I have vista and wouldn’t mind having a mac OS as well. So what does it mean if I had run the mac OS on a VMware? is it exactly the same as i would of i just install the OS regular and the it independently?

thanks

I don’t know much about Yahoo! Small Business Web Hosting, can anyone give me a good review or at least a link to one?

Event 4202 in Event Viewer on Windows server?

In the server’s event viewer (which we can only get to via Remote Desktop – the server is hosted somewhere on the other side of the country), I keep seeing events 4202 and then 4201 a few seconds later (source tcpip).

This happens pretty much every day and sometimes up to 5 or 6 times per day. The site is only down for 5-30 seconds each time, so it is difficult to catch it while happening (plus, I can’t since I need it to be connected via Remote Desktop). Everything I have read says this could be either a hardware or a driver issue.

Unfortunately, GoDaddy has been no help since it is a dedicated server. I have been working with their advanced support team and they are saying the hardware is fine (because they tested it in a 10 minute window in which this didn’t happen). They will not monitor it over the course of a few days.

How do I know if it is the network card failing vs bad equipment? How can I prove it is the equipment so I can go back to GoDaddy with a solid argument?
Event 4202 (8/27/07 8:14:30 am):
The system detected that network adapter \DEVICE\TCPIP_{3CDCEEFE-C379-4C88-AF9D-E1BE872DB9D4} was disconnected from the network, and the adapter’s network configuration has been released. If the network adapter was not disconnected, this may indicate that it has malfunctioned. Please contact your vendor for updated drivers.

Event 4201 (8/27/07 8:14:50 am):
The system detected that network adapter \DEVICE\TCPIP_{3CDCEEFE-C379-4C88-AF9D-E1BE872DB9D4} was connected to the network, and has initiated normal operation over the network adapter.

I would like to make a VPS hosting company, like BODHOST’s VPS’es and others. Basically just order a VPS and I can give a virtual machine to you and allocate resources. What server software would do the same on Debian linux?

Wanting to give something back, I’m toying with the idea of setting-up a small web-hosting service to provide free hosting for a select few… probably by using sub-domains (e.g. site1.mydomain.com, site2.mydomain.com,…) for each.

The obvious choice would be to set-up a web-server and stuff on one of my own computers, but neither my internet-connection nor projected up-time is good enough.

I was therefor wondering if there are any server-parks that allows me to rent (cheaply) a Linux/Unix server for such a purpose, and manages keeping it up?

I would need Apache, PHP and MySQL for sure, and the ability to add packages of PHP scripts freely. I doesn’t matter too much if the server is specifically to be used for web-services, or if it’s set-up more for general purposes… though the latter is preferable. I basically want "my own" Linux machine — to do with as I please — with a killer connection, and someone to keep it up-and-running.

What computer parts should i have?

A friend of mine told me that there are free to join companies that provide affiliate marketing programs with free automated websites for the marketers.Since I dont know how to make a website, I think it would be better if I could try this kind of marketing promotion to test whether a marketer really earns money. Help please. Thanks in advance.
